First Lady

You come across a lot of “firsts” in life, but “First Ladies”? Not so many, especially when it comes to our dear and beloved “First Lady” Jacqueline Kennedy.

The term “lady” is a term not commonly used by the youth of today.  The term is reserved for the refined, well-mannered and cultured women of yesteryear.  When there were pearls to clutch, and accessories to match to one’s lipstick.  Jackie owned the term “first lady” because perhaps, she really was.

Having had come from a stunning pedigree of family values and expectations, Jacqueline found herself not only in the spotlight as America’s wife, but also as a beacon of style and substance.  Fluent in multiple languages and a sense of the decorum that puts the British Empire to shame.

Jackie managed to bring fashion to the forefront in the early 1960’s, with her timeless pill box hats, colorful gowns and matching accessories.  From her hair to her lipstick, women across the nation looked to her for both style tips and how to live a well-rounded and cultured life.

A young wife and a mother herself, the nation managed to remain on Jackie’s side throughout turbulence and triumph.  To this day, she remains at the forefront as one of the world’s leading style icons.  As well as one of my personal favorites.

So cheers to you, Jackie.  We all tip our pillboxes in respect and admiration.
