What’s the “it” color for prom dresses this year? Here’s a hint: The Wizard of Oz’s jealousy turned his entire city this vibrant hue.
Yup, Emerald green is cropping up in all of this season’s prom gown collections. The rich, lively shade straight from nature beat out the rest of the rainbow as Pantone’s topcolor of 2013 (Pantone, also known as The Color Institute, is the company that defines and influences color trends worldwide). According to Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of Pantone’s research department, emerald is a balanced color, and something to pick up and listen to: ”It’s a color of growth, renewal, healing, unity and regeneration…words we’re all so in need of at this point in history.”
Whether you feel like dazzling your prom date in this rich jewel tone from head-to toe-or prefer adding a pop of green in the form of asassy shoe or clutch, check out these ideas from Unique Vintage…they’re sure to make you totally green with envy…until you send them through checkout, that is!
