Hello everyone! Rachel from Chicago Chic here, honored to be back for the Style Society with another guest post! I have to say the #iamunique campaign has really encouraged me to think a lot about what it means to embrace “uniqueness.” You might remember when I shared my thoughts on being a modern day pinup, and the self assurance this requires in today’s society. Taking it a step further, I’ve lately been feeling it’s so important to not try to be a replica of any specific person from the past or present that I admire. I sometimes see vintage lovers trying to encourage others to view them as Marilyn, Mansfield, Dita, etc. by repeatedly copying exact photos of these icons from the past, and I realized that I never really want to do this.
