Hello everyone! Rachel from Chicago Chic here, honored to be back for the Style Society with another guest post! I have to say the #iamunique campaign has really encouraged me to think a lot about what it means to embrace “uniqueness.” You might remember when I shared my thoughts on being a modern day pinup, and the self assurance this requires in today’s society. Taking it a step further, I’ve lately been feeling it’s so important to not try to be a replica of any specific person from the past or present that I admire. I sometimes see vintage lovers trying to encourage others to view them as Marilyn, Mansfield, Dita, etc. by repeatedly copying exact photos of these icons from the past, and I realized that I never really want to do this.
One of the best things about the July 4th weekend is all of the outdoor celebrations! From backyard barbecues, to parades, to fireworks, there’s no shortage of fresh-air frivolity. We’re ready to salute the stars and stripes in style, but donning red, white, and blue can sometimes end up looking overworked. What’s a patriotic pin up to do? We took out the Independence Day predictability and pulled together a patriotic ensemble thats festive and retro-fabulous! Here’s to looking red, white, and beautiful!
The weather is getting warmer, the apple pie is baking, and the fireworks are raring to get lit. It can only mean one thing: the 4th of July is near! If you’re feeling festive and want to jazz up your summer wardrobe with some patriotic flair, we have a seasonally divine collection of red, white, and blue that’s sure to set the holiday tone.
Looking for ways to give your wedding a 1950s touch? We have some fashionable suggestions to inspire your retro “I do.”
Theres something magical about the circus with the amazing acts, exotic animals, and delicious sweet scents of cotton candy and caramel corn. The instant we saw the Blue and Black Stongman Swing Dress we were head over heels in love. We adore statement prints and this little showstopper of a frock is adorned with a festive vintage-inspired circus print that we just couldn’t pass up.
To keep the focus on the darling print, we styled the dress with understated tonal accessories like the Black Lady Lux Work Bag, the Pin Up Ankle Strap Gorgeous Heels, and the Light Blue and Tortoise Love Story Sunglasses. Finish the ensemble by adding a touch of volume to the dress with the Black Tea Length Petticoat Crinoline.
