Look familiar? Here at Unique Vintage, it doesn’t get much more fabulous than the original diva herself- Barbie. When she was first introduced in 1959, she arrived on the scene in two incarnations; a bombshell brunette and the stunning blonde we have come to know and love. Her first outfit?
A knock-out black and white chevron bathing suit, complete with a matching pair of sunglasses and heels! A gal who has accessorized accordingly for over 50 years is good in our book!
In the Spring of 2012, the UV team turned our eyes toward this icon for one of our latest swimsuit designs and the Navy & White Dinah One Piece was born! Inspired by Barbie’s original swimsuit, this fantastic chevron pattern is a perfect addition to the UV line. The gorgeous vintage-inspired one piece bathing suit features a very flattering halter top, complete with a V-neckline and scoop back. The chevron design is not only an homage to our friend Barbie, but the shape of the pattern slims the silhouette, flattering every woman’s figure and making this number 100% beach ready.
Now that you have a little history to go along with your new summer suit, grab your lipstick and your heels and make Barbie proud when you hit those waves, darlings.

Listen up, ladies! We’re about to throw something your way that you never saw coming. That’s right, swimdresses! This 1940’s White & Black Polka Dot Cabana Bathingsuit With Aqua Panelis a great swimdress option. With the pop of color in the middle and the undeniably beautiful fit, we don’t expect you to resist! Our Aqua & Red Polka Dot Betsey Swimsuitis another great option for you ladies who are interested in a cute, but covered look. Our 50s Style Red & White Dotted Swimdressis also a darling way to sport the swimdress style. Classic and ultra feminine!

And please ladies, don’t forget the accessories! A wise woman once said, “the only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize”. Amen!
Ever since we first came across retro fashion designer Kenley Collins when she made her reality television debut on Project Runway back in 2008, we knew we had to work with this quirky, colorful chic. There are few contestants from all the seasons of Project Runway that truly left any lasting impression on audiences and Kenley is definitely one of them. Thankfully, the feelings were mutual!
With her cute, sassy attitude and definitive fashion aesthetic, Kenley came to UV’s HQ last September to collaborate on an exclusive design just for us! The Brooklyn, NY native just happened to be in LA for the Emmys (if you’re a fan of the show, you’ll remember when Ven won the Emmy dress challenge with Kenley and they both got to attend the award ceremony? It was right around then).
If you don’t know the name Fei Fei Sun, then you are in for a charming treat. The Chinese born model is gracing the pages of Vogue Italia and giving us subsequent chills in the process. In a spread that evokes a 1960’s Camelot sensibility, the cover is a striking Houndstooth print, complimented by the work of a clearly very gifted hairstylist. This flawless cover is only the beginning. Let us walk you through the many ways that this spread screams vintage-inspired fashion.
There’s not much that can get your adrenaline pumping like a live television segment! This past Tuesday, we had the unique pleasure of experiencing that rush when five of our models showed off several Oscar “Looks for Less” on FOX TV’s Los Angeles’ morning news program “Good Day LA”. While the segment went off without a hitch and was over in just a matter of minutes, getting ready for our spotlight was another story!
Well, Hollywood’s elite may have played dress up this past Sunday night at the 85th Academy Awards, but the sensational model brigade of Unique Vintage got to strut their own stuff for the camera today on FOX’s morning show, Good Day LA! Devon, Kylie, Ashley, Taylor and Amanda smiled, waved and stunned their viewers in a dazzling array of gowns, all of which are remarkably similar to the styles worn on the red carpet. The reason for this incredible honor? Our dresses are just a small fraction of the cost. So there. Amanda Seyfried, Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington, Jennifer Garner and Catherine Zeta-Jones…the next time you need a fancy frock, check these out:
