According to the sizing I definitly needed M, and it fits good everywhere but the shoulders, it looks like the shoulders are size L, I am not a tiny girl and wear 34 B, but the shoulders are huge. S size would be too tigt for all the rest though, so no it's not a perfect fit and, unfortunately, I have to have it tailored.

I am absolutely in love. Having tried on both, the difference between small and medium is a pretty big jump. The medium fit loose and the small was a tight fit (though this dress needs a close fit to fill out its shape, so that was fine with me). The fabric is great. It has lots of give but still holds everything together. So pleased!

Fit

I bought this dress for a 1940s benefit night aboard the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi (annual event, I HIGHLY recommend it! Live big band!) I'm 5'8" measurements: 35, 27, 39, so I was a medium in the bust and waist and a large in the hips. I ordered both medium and large and the medium fit PERFECTLY everywhere though it was snug but not ridiculously tight in the the hips. The large swallowed my bust and waist. So I went with the medium and I'm so glad I did, the dress was a HIT! There's the perfect amount of stretch in it so my larger than average hips could still maneuver without ripping the dress at the seams. The color is a really beautiful midnight blue and the lace around the neck and arms is more antique-white than in the picture. It is a gorgeous dress, I highly recommend it to anyone. The reason I only gave it 4 stars was the slightly too tight hips but that's a difficulty I have with pretty much everything I buy considering my small upper body and larger hips.

I just bought this dress and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I have gotten so many complements on it. It is super comfortable and it is a great dress to have in a collection. It's not to formal and not to casual. A perfect dress for those "in the middle" situations.
